This is Bunbeg Harbour a famous fishing village in the Gaeltact area of Gweedore.
This is the gateway for Tory Island with a ferry
crossings a few times every day. There are organised island day trips

Glenveigh National Park is one of the most visited heritage attractions in
Ireland. Guided tours of Glenveigh Castle and it's grounds-home to the golden eagle.
This castle and estate was donated to the state by its American owner
John Mc Elhinney. (45 kms from cottages)

Dunlewey is a village located at the base of Errigal Mountain close to the poisoned
Glen. Dunlewey Lakeside Centre is located here. (25 kms from cottages)
Maghery Lough is located beside the cottages. The lough is a special area of
conservation because of a rare plant that grows in the lake. The lake is stocked
with trout by the Rosses Anglers

Portnoo beach is a vast sandy beach at Narin/Portnoo. Portnoo a village popular
with tourists is 35 kms from the cottages. The 18 hole Portnoo is located behind
the sand dunes at the beach.

Aranmore Island is a 20 minute ferry trip from the fishing village of Burtonport.
Two companies operate the ferry service one of them operating a fast ferry service.
The scenery going to and from the island and on the island itself is stunning.

Croaghy tower is a martello tower built in the Napoleonic era. It is in a scenic location
overlooking Aranmore Island and Maghery beach.

Dunlewey is a village located at the base of Errigal Mountain, close to the Poisoned Glen.
Dunlewey Lakeside centre is here and is a great tourist attraction. The centre is

Errigal Mountain is located 25 kms from the cottages towering above Dunlewey and Poisoned
Glen. This is Donegal's highest mountains and is a haven for hill walkers and mountain
climbers.

Errigal Peak is the highest point of the mountain. The long climb begins at the car park on the
past the village of Dunlewey. Rising to the highest peak is the goal of every climber.
Beautiful panoramic views of the Rosses, Gweedore and Cloughaneely.

Carrickfinn beach is a beautiful sandy blue flag beach behind the sand dunes at Carrickfinn Airport.
This beach is located 12 kms from the cottages.

Glengesh is an impressive glen dating back to the ice age on route from Ardara to Glencolmcille.
A very scenic area of Donegal located 60kms from cottages.

Sliabh Liag Cliffs are on the south west coast of Donegal. They are one of the highest sea cliffs in
Europe with a 300m drop into the atlantic ocean below. From Sliabh Liag there are terrific views
of Sligo mountains and Donegal bay. A short distance to the right of the cliff face you have the
amazing cliff face of Bunglas. There is a beautiful walk on the "one man's path"taking you to
the summit of Sliabh Liag.

Going across the bridge that links Cruit Island with the mainland we see the simple life in west
Donegal where the children take care of the pony they have been riding on the beach.
